Just to let you know how I have sorted the infoboxes for guests.
Infobox = Guests who have played characters and been in more than one episode.
Infobox Guests = No charac, 1 episode
Infobox Guests 1 = Charac, 1 episode
Infobox Guests 2 = No Charac, more than 1 episode.
For characters so far I only have one "Infobox Characters" which changes "characters" to "played by", I am going to make another one "Infobox Characters 1" which will be for characters who have only made one appearance.
This is awesome. I'm going to start moving some over to the new infoboxes.
I'm about 11 eps behind. The only ep I've listened to after Best Of voting ended (other than the BOs themselves) is the one with Mary Elizabeth Ellis. So...sigh. I'm trying to figure out how to get ahold of the Outside Lands ep without succumbing to Howl.
Sorry for being a Philistine and not embracing the spirit of Wiki, and instead making edit suggestions to a frequent contributor - I really mean that, I should just take the time to figure it out and do it myself! - but wanted to note an oversight on the Oh, Hello boys - they also appear in episode 174 (Series Regulars) alongside Lizzy Caplan. Stoked to have found a rad wiki for my brand new obsession, maybe I'll brush off my reluctant HTML-bility and become a part in the not-distant future.
Thank you so much for the kind note! The best part of this wiki (to me) is "meeting" other CBB fans. Don't worry if you don't know HTML; wikia has a pretty easy learning curve for adding basic information. But for now, feel free to leave me notes and I'll be happy to make the updates! Thanks for your help and input!
Episode 92: How's Your Boner? (Other Guest Andy Richter)
Episode 60: Now Hiring New Intern! (Also Starring Donald Glover and Brendon Walsh)
I also realize I am adding appearances with no link (as the episode page hasn't been set up yet, Episode pages will be my last priority if you would rather I didn't mention appearance until there is an episode page setup let me know), I am going to make pages for guests and link them and add guest appearances.
The main reason I want to help is to have somewhere to find every episode with each character.
Hi I forgot to sign in before I made the above post, I have started to add links that don't exist in the hopes when a page gets set up it will automatically work (not sure if this works, will try it). I have continued to add (guest/guests) for other episodes in appearances, although I still wonder if there is a better way of doing this.
Thanks for the advice, I will start making episode titles bold, But I am going to leave guest names in until there's a decent amount of Episode pages. I will start making episode pages in a week or so (feels like too big a challenge at the moment)
I am tempted to make pages for all episodes with just episode number, name and guests (leaving room for description, trivia etc). I would probably prefer to slowly add episodes with detail but if there was a page for each episode/character/guest would it make it easier to update? you seem to be adding recent episodes I was thinking about starting at episode one. If you could point out/create an episode page for me to use as a template it would be greatly appreciated. obviously let me know if you disagree or what not...
Feel free to start building basic pages; like you said it'll make it easier to update. I've only done more recent episodes because those are ones I've listened to while at work. Haven't really had a chance to start from the beginning yet, so that would be awesome of you.
I'd say just go ahead and use any existing page as a template. You can leave the Summary and Trivia sections off -- they can always be added later.
You're doing the hard work of putting up new pages; I don't mind going through and making things consistent afterwards. That's my strength. Don't be hurt or insulted! And don't let my OCD tendencies discourage you! This is a group effort. :)
Thanks, yeah no problem, I am glad you mentioned "Don't be hurt or insulted! And don't let my OCD tendencies discourage you! This is a group effort. :)" I was going to try to say something similar (was worried you might think I stepping on your toes or going in the wrong direction) and I'm sure we can work together, good to know someone is double checking (covering my mistakes) :)
You mean the gallery page? Edit the Episodes page, then "modify" on the gallery icon. If an episode doesn't have a picture, use the "logo.jpg" file already located in the gallery. To get the linking caption right I usually just copy the text from one of the other pictures and then adapt it for the new one.
If that doesn't make any sense, that's one of the things I don't mind doing. So either way it'll get added.
Hi, I noticed you have started adding 'with' instead of 'Guest' or 'with guest' I will start using that as standard, I was also wondering for (Guest as Character) sometimes it is Character (Guest) is this your preference just to try to keep them all the same.(hope that makes sense) Anything else let me know thanks ps I know I could just make some decisions but I don't want to change it all one way for you to have to change it back.
Visually I've been preferring "Episode #: Episode Title" (with Guest, Guest, and Guest)." When it comes to the episode summary in the top paragraph, lets go with "Character (Guest)" and then when it's listed in someone's appearances, we can put it as "(with Guest as Character, Guest, Guest)." I hope I make sense!
Thanks for being so thorough. You're doing great work!
Hi, I have been away for a couple of days, well done you've made a massive push forward, I'm gonna probably keep going with episode pages but try to add a bit more detail as I go, a la 147: Raisin Norman Bates. I was also wondering do you prefer Earwolf page or Official Earwolf page (seems like Guest pages have Earwolf page and Episode pages have Official Earwolf page) As always let me know if you have any tips, complaints or suggestions etc... thanks
Yeah, I just started doing "Official Earwolf page" when linking to an episode page and just "Earwolf page" when linking to a guest's page. There's no real rhyme or reason, I just did it and kept doing it for consistency's sake.
I'm trying to figure out a page that lists all the guests in order of how many episodes they've been in, just because I'm curious. Any ideas? What to call it, etc.?
I have accidentaly added Birthday Boys to Category Episodes not sure how to delete it.
It would be a good idea to have a list in order of number of appearances, but the only way I can think of is to have it so you can click list in ascending/descending order by name, episode number, characters etc but I don't know how to do that or if it is possible(hope that makes sense) You could make a seperate page like you did for guest hosts (good idea btw) but I think it would be better to have it all on one page, for example List alphabetically with thumbnails (like episode page is listed by number and alphabetically) then have a 'list by no of appearances'
Also, speaking of the Birthday Boys, if I can figure out which guys are in each episode I may just separate those guys out so they have their own separate pages. For example, Mike Hanford's been on by himself a couple of times. But if I can't tell which guys are in the episodes...then oh, well!
As a Tim & Eric fan, that irritates me that if you want to listen to all the Tim Heidecker episodes and you search Tim Heidecker it doesn't give you "Tim & Eric" episode pages. That's why I did them differently for the wiki.
I just had a similar problem with Don't Stop or We'll Die, I added there episodes to the Harris Wittels and Paul Rust age, added a Michael Cassady but wasn't sure whether to make a page for Don't Stop or We'll Die
Ha, the things I end up changing are always so miniscule that I would be more embarrassed to ask you to change them than I am bothered at changing them myself. I do, however, prefer the Oxford comma, FYI.
I have been adding photos I noticed captions on ep 53, 55 - 62 are in bold not sure how to change it, was also wondering if there was a quicker way to edit gallery to get episode pages in alphabetical order?
Hmm, I don't know how to change the bold in captions. Haven't encountered that yet.
As for the gallery, I don't think so. It's a pain in the butt, isn't it? I've been making the images as small as possible while I'm trying to move the one I want and then resizing them back to 130 when I'm done. But it's still very tedious.
Yeah, I have just been thinking its only going to get worse when we get more episodes done, but it will just take a little bit longer. I am re listening to the Marissa Wompler Episodes and filling in more detail, feel free to change it or let me know what I'm doing wrong thanks.
Sorry for the confusion, I meant do you think it would be a good idea to make a seperate page for the bonus episodes like (you already have for) guest host episode and musical guest episodes? (I re-read it myself after I posted it and noticed it looked more like the way you understood it, I guess you answered my question anyway)
Just to clarify Musical Guests, is it only live musical performances? Just when Weird Al is on Scott plays Weird Al songs.
Since you mentioned the Live Episodes should we do a page for that as well, just some bonus episodes aren't live and some live episodes aren't bonus. All of this can be done at a later date there is still obviously alot to do no rush.
Good idea, what size are you going to change them too (if you have decided) just so when I add new ones I will put them to the correct size. I have started the Doug Loves Movies page but I don't know how to make a table the way you have for Would You Rather. (hopefully that is the last thing I can't figure out by myself)
I was wondering if we could, instead of 'Huell Howser and Jesse Ventura (James Adomian)' can we start putting James Adomian as Huell Howser and Jesse Ventura, just for when someone plays more than one character or is there a better way to lay it out? just I keep thinking it looks like Huell Howser is a guest then Jesse Ventura is played by James Adomian.
1) You can add a table in the same toolbar as adding a photo or slideshow, it's to the right. Let me know if you can't see it. Once you create it it's really easy to add more rows/colums.
2) I know exactly what you're talking about, I've wondered the same thing. I've gone between using the & only in that situation (i.e., Huell Howser & Jesse Ventura) or maybe using a slash (i.e., Huell Howser/Jesse Ventura). Maybe in those situations "James Adomian as Huell Howser and Jesse Ventura" is the best way. (Sidenote: I love the fact that this is a discussion amongst anyone in the whole universe. Best topic of convo ever.)
3) I'm also torn on how to deal with someone doing a brief character, like when Harris is himself mostly and does a brief character bit. "Himself and..." works okay, it just looks kind of weird. Let me know if you have any better ideas for that too.
What do you think of making a switch to guest pages like the revamped Ben Schwartz site? With all of the episodes being listed and all the guests and links, it looks pretty..."orange" on most guests' sites. Obvi I'm not kicking into high gear with this, just curious about your thoughts. I can definitely go back quickly. (And FYI, if you hadn't figured it out, tables are a pain in the tuchas.)
1) thanks don't know how I couldn't find the tables button.
2) I have started putting 'James Adomian as Huell Howser and Jesse Ventura' if you think of a different way let me know (sidenote: yes I agree wholeheartedly, also not sure if its just me, but for me, most people I know don't listen to podcasts so its nice to know someone else who understands/'gets it')
3) Someone added an episode page where they had a title Guests then listed them with bullet points, it makes the page look a little unnecessarily long but would make it a bit more clear and less crammed in when its a guest who plays themselves and more than one character (I see both good and bad side to this so I didn't do anything or mention it earlier, I think you may have changed it back because I tried to find it, to link to it here, but couldn't)
4) You too, we are getting there :)
5) thanks, I will start making pictures 280 as well
6) I normally keep it the same incase I am wrong (I already make enough mistakes without mistakenly correcting other people as well lol)
7) I think the Ben Schwartz page looks really good, good idea. I haven't properly tried tables yet (Hope its not too bad)
Oh one more thing I noticed the Comedy Bang! Bang! page on wikipedia has been getting expanded, just to let you know because its helpful for me making episode pages (you may already have realized this) I think thats all for now but keep up the good work
I created a quick link along the top menu bar, under "Community." There's now a link to "Wanted Pages," which takes you to an automatic page that lists all the "red link" pages so we can see which pages we need to make. It doesn't update automatically, FYI. But we can go ahead and put in as may red links as we want and it will automatically list them.
Hi, I also have noticed depending on the picture (or if the guest does characters) there will be a big gap between the title Appearances and the table. (Eventually I am guessing we will put more info at the top of the page which would close this gap)
I am more than happy to go along with anything you want obviously just let me know and I will correct the ones I have created (also I made Andy Richter 's without bullet points but Allan McLeod 's with just in case your not exactly sure what I meant)
Yeah, I think the bullet points just take up so much space because it forces the indent and wastes a lot of space. I think it's OK if at a glance you can't really tell if it's someone playing multiple characters (like for a Best Of ep), because if you're looking for specific you'll still find it, and if you're just browsing you should still be able to see whomever or whatever you're looking for.
I typed in an episode page to get to the earwolf page and an AVN page came up with the people in the episode they had him listed under his real name (there isn't much info on it though I tried to confirm it checking other places.) Yes that makes sense, I wasn't sure whether Miles Archer was possibly one of many characters etc
Another thing I noticed according to the earwolf website episode 101 was released on the 18th of April, 102, 103, 104 were released on the 15th of May and finally 105 was released on 16th of May. I personally don't remember that happening (but it was long enough ago I may have forgot) I checked it on wiki and they have different dates, not sure where they got there info but it seems more likely.
Hi, I was wondering whether you were including the guest and the character in situations where they are themselves and play a character (I have just tried to do Brian Pieces but wasn't sure which way to go, I made John Mulaneys and just left it out but Adam and Harris aren't in character as much)
Good thinking it's all about getting the information on here
(I am going to try to be more careful, I noticed I have changed things that I don't even understand why or how I could make that mistake, I think its having too many pages open, thank you for your patience)
Hi, just to let you know I made a page for Sarah Silverman (character) as played by Amy Phillips (was unsure whether you want to rename it, or if you would want it, as it could get confused with the real one).
I also created a Best of Category then realized I will have to re listen to the episodes before I fill it in (just incase you wonder why I made a blank page.
I have made a page for Musical guests and I have put all the episodes so far in a table/list.
Also in the category page for guest hosts I have made a list for Cyberthug (I was going to do this for each guest host but wanted to make sure its ok with you), I had planned to do a similar thing for musical guests on that page but thought it might not look very good as each guest only performs on one or two episodes, so it would end up having ten different tables (I don't mind making it to see what it looks like if your unsure what I mean)
Hi just to let you know the James Adomian page may have mistakes on it, I deleted something out of one of the cells and they all went crazy (ie every word became a link and things duplicated in other cells) I think I put it back correctly but just to let you know.
I have noticed you making some of the pictures smaller I thought we were making them all 280, did you only want the images on guest pages made larger just to clarify to save a bit of time, thanks, hope everything is going well
Feel free to change anything or ask me to change something. earlier you said "I think adding the other guests to someone's list of appearances looks a little wordy" and I said "I am going to leave guest names in until there's a decent amount of Episode pages", I would be happy to take the other guest names off now if you still want to, I know we have changed the way we are doing appearance lists so you may not want to delete them any more (understandable). I also noticed wiki only makes a link once, I kind of like how we linked everytime then you don't need to look for the first time someones name is mentioned to click on it, but I thought it was worth bringing up as the other way is more standard (hope as always that makes sense and sorry for going on)
I was also wondering whether or not you thought it would be a good idea to put a link to next and previous episodes on the bottom of episode pages, I started doing this on God Bless America let me know what you think and we can delete or rethink it (I wrote this before you msg'd me)
I've definitely thought we should do something like that, with a link to the next episode and the previous episode. I wonder if there's an easier, template-y way to do that with Wikia. I'll try to find something.
what I meant about links is for example, when we write a summary we don't link everytime we mention a character or guest but in a list of appearances we do (I think wiki only ever links once) I kind of like the way we do it because it means you are able to click on everything in the list (I realize I probably shouldn't suggest things I don't want to do but I just want to make sure)
Oh, about the links. I like linking every time in a table but not every time in an episode summary. That way if you're, say, going to Mantzoukas's page and want to find an episode he did with PFT, you can click on a bunch of different links to PFT. But in a summary the names are limited, so the links should be as well. Does that make sense?
I just wanted to let you know I love your summaries/segmants, I honestly would like to never do a summary again (because you're better) but know something is better than nothing. My wife count is a good idea, I was thinking instead of having' Scott's Nickname' we could have Comedy Bang! Bang! is hosted by Hot Soccermom etc on every page
Repeat Your Keyword has a long catchphrase, I know I have made mistakes I had to relisten about twenty times to get as close as I did, I know you will get around to correcting it but also, it looks a bit odd so I was just wondering if you wanted to keep it (it will look better when we do a summary or 'segment breakdown'.)
Ha! I just saw it. What a ridic catchphrase. What about just putting the "shebop can i get a" phrase from the end with an asterisk * at the end, then put the full thing in a Trivia section at the bottom?
I am not sure how to link the writing on the episodes in the gallery, I guess you have noticed this by now, thanks for correcting it. If its simple enough for you to explain I will start doing it (There is only about 15 episodes left but its worth me knowing how to do it for the future episodes)
All I do is copy the information from another episode and change the information. If you look at the "Describe this photo" field in any of the episodes you'll see what I mean. (I tried to copy and paste it but it kept linking.)
So I just replace the name of the episode and the episode number with whichever episode I'm working on. (I didn't figure this one out; another guy from the wiki, Nolanw, did and I've just been copying it ever since.) And then for the link below I just put the name of the episode/site, and it links to it. No need to put the entire hyperlink.
Thank you thats simple enough, I found an easier way to get them in order (you probably have been doing it from the start) I was dragging and dropping to get it up each line, not realizing you can use the arrow to go to exactly which line it needs to be on.
I think we should try to do more guests/character pages for a while but if you do an infobox I will start putting one on all the new pages. I stopped adding catchphrases to the episode pages, just so I could get through them quicker and feel I have accomplished something, I will go back through slowly once I'm done. There is quite a bit to do (previous/next, list of appearences, infobox, re-sizing photos etc) but after the episodes, character and guests are done its just a case of filling in the details.
I'll wait to do the infobox until we have all the guests and the episodes. Maybe not characters (there are SO MANY) but I agree that we should have the basics down before moving everyone to something new.
You know, when we add the Infobox two of the fields will be previous and next episode. Just something to think about before going back through each episode page and adding that table. I don't want you to waste your time and efforts changing something we'll just wind up adding/changing later.
I have noticed a few more dates which don't match up with wikipedia and fall on odd days (76 and 76.5), Wiki doesn't seem correct either, possibly when we are finished we should go back through to check dates and just add B-b-b-bonus-s-s-s! to any episode not released on monday.
Finally all the episodes are finished, Still need to double check catchphrases etc, Well done on adding Guests and Characters, we really are getting there, let me know if there is anything in particular you want me to focus on.
Hello again, again, I was wondering, how you preferred the music to be layed out? I started from episode 1 and didnt noticed you had already added music to episode 6, I am happy to re-format it either way just let me know, thank you kindly
Guests and episodes are done! Feeling good! I'm going to start adding infoboxes, maybe only a couple of them today. I'll start with guests, because I like the idea of seeing how many episodes each person has been in.
I have been adding descriptions at the top of the page, I noticed you put things in Italics, I will do this from now on. I was also wondering about the links I have been addng, I notice on some other wikis they have external links at the bottom of the page (Jonah Ray has links in the description for example) (once again I am happy with the way we do it, I just wondered)
Wow, looks great! Have any idea on how to make the template look different, like different colors and stuff? We should get it perfect before we start applying the template to every episode. Maybe instead of "Starring" call the field "Guests"? How do you want to include characters in the box? But well done!
I have no idea how to change the style, colour etc of the template (I will keep thinking), Good idea we should try to get it right before we apply it, I will re-do Welcome to Comedy Bang Bang (probably tomorrow). We could have one field for Guests and one for Characters similar to the tables on guest pages (may look a bit too wordy having 'guest' as 'character' in the infobox though)
Not sure if you have tried an infobox yet, but you have to fill out some of the fields each time you do one there is a way to get them to automatically to come up, I will figure this out at some point but I am pretty happy with that for now
I have messed around with the infoboxes, I have it so the titles for each box come up now. I tried aligning to the left but it made the text too close to the box. I was wondering what to do if someone has appeared in only one episode (First Episode/Most Recent Episode), I made an infobox for Adam Brody I just put first episode.
OK, I did one for Ben Schwartz but when I tried to do Neil Campbell's and put in characters the Character field stayed on the same level as Most Recent Episode and didn't move down to the next line. For now I'll stick to people who haven't played characters.
I see what you mean (it's weird it worked on Nick Frost and Simon Pegg), I have got it to work by typing characters into the box 'extra info 3', if you're not sure what I mean try to modify the infobox on Neil Campbell (I will eventually try to correct it and delete the rest of the extra boxes but as long as we both know which fields to use, I am happy with that for now)
I was wondering how you wanted to lay out multiple characters let me know if you want me to change it.
I bought the new tour episodes, and I have last year's tour episode, so I'll start adding those. I think I'll categorize them as "Special Episodes." We can move those few bonus episodes from early on in the run (Live from UCB NY!, etc.) to that category too. I'll add those this week.
No problem, good idea. i have the first tour but wasn't sure how to categorize/list them. I added Amy Phillips characters using < br >, let me know what you think or if you come up with a different way of laying it out (it took me a while to figure out how to do it, but it is pretty simple)
I have somehow done something to change where the infoboxes align, I still don't understand infoboxes properly, if you know how to change it feel free if not I am sure I will figure it out eventually (just to let you know I didn't do it on purpose).
Thanks, it still comes up with the wrong field names in the edit but I will eventually fix that also (everytime I do anything it all seems to go wrong and then I have to work out how to fix that but I am getting there)
Edit: I thought I was but its a nightmare, with text going bold/italics for no reason and every other time the infobox doesn't show up, this is going to take a while.
I think it was me, it is the same for all of them it's something to do with the template but I am not sure what I tried to revert back but it didnt help, I got fed up earlier on I was trying to fix it but got sidetracked with the episode templates and then they all went wrong so I had to try to correct that.
I have managed to get the templates back to the top of the page (I honestly don't know how other than I put the extra fields back in), the characters field now seems to work properly as well and the extra box we were using characters for doesn't so we need to move them back.
I wil try to think of anymore adjustments needed before we add more infoboxes because it can wipe all the info.
I have added an infobox Bobby Bottleservice's page just in case I need to change anything to the template (I was thinking we coud have a field for 'played by' or something similar to replace the characters field on guest pages). I noticed other users adding pretty good Personal life/Career sections I have moved this above appearances, mainly to try to fill the gap caused by the infobox and table, let me know if you disagree or what not...
I think we could even lump the information up into the character summary, removing the "career" heading altogether. Just make it a paragraph or two of description on the character. Looks great! Great idea!
ok I have added 'Played by' to the infoboxes and deleted Career as a title from Bobby B's page, let me know if you want me to change anything else, I am pretty much happy to start adding the infoboxes. (I think)
If your happy I think we can start adding infoboxes, for some reason I think there is a better way to say Played by (but I can't think of it), apart from that I think everything is looking good (ps Well done adding characters etc, I haven't added much for a few days because I've been trying to get the infoboxes right)
Turns out I don't mind it as much as I pretend, I was thinking about adding a category Guest Host to the episode infoboxes, but like the characters field I am not sure how to get it to only come up when you type into the box. (although it does work for played by/characters on the guest pages).
Edit: Just noticed the infoboxes on guest pages have moved down to the appearances line again, I will try to correct it (I should start trying to make sense of it all instead of guessing) :)
I moved the episodes starting with B (B1, B2, B3) from early on in the run to the "Special Episodes" category that will eventually house the paid episodes that they offer in the Earwolf store. I feel like they don't really fit into the regular flow of episodes, even though they're free.
Another thing you my have already noticed, the reason the text is sometimes bold in photos is because when I click on photo I am at the name of the episode which is in bold (it happens in episodes without a catchphrase for this reason), this is also why infoboxes normally make the text go bold when it is not bold in edit. (as always I am not sure if that makes sense)
I have changed it to latest episode, the only problem is we will have to go back through to add the latest episodes it doesn't carry over from most recent episode, good thinking though looks much neater
Hello again, sorry for asking pretty much every question that comes into my head, but I was wondering do you agree women who act are called actors?, just I say actress out of habit but I guess I should write actor if thats the preferred term. I guess its the same with comedienne/comedian, I would always say comedian.
Also did you decide whether we should change Number of Appearances to Appearances/ No of Episodes etc :)
We might not have to fill them in I have an idea, if I change the box in the edit back to number of appearances but have it so it comes up as Appearances it might work (not sure if that makes sense but I will let you know if I figure it out)
Great, that worked, I will change the ones you have just done back now. I am slowly getting the hang of infoboxes, but I still would like to learn what it all means, certain things just seem random. :)
Edit:on the last one I realized I could just undo the last edit lol
Hi, do you still think the images should 280 or does it make the infobox too big (Veggie Dongs), also before I go too far, do you think I should list guests with < br > inbetween each one or with commas? (thanks)
There are episodes with slideshows (I tried to add a picture of each guest if there wasn't one with all of them together), I don't know if there is a way to have the slideshow in the infobox, do you think I should keep the slideshow and not have an image in the infobox?
What about if we just list the characters and guests separately? If someone wants to know who played, say, Huell Howser, they can click on the Huell Howser link and it'll say right up top. So Introducing Huell Howser could say:
Guests: Ben Schwartz < br > James Adomian < br > Chip Pope
Characters: Huell Howser < br > R.O. Manse
This will also make it a little easier when someone plays multiple characters, or when, say, Tom Lennon only does Lil' Gary for a few minutes (like in Veggie Dongs). That way someone can see, "Oh, Tom Lennon is in this episode and he does Lil' Gary" but it doesn't look like he does Lil' Gary the whole time. Do you know what I mean? In other words it'll eliminate the issue of "Adam Scott as Gerald and himself."
I was wondering if you've noticed sometimes when you go to edit infoboxes, the edit button moves, if so do you know a way to avoid this? (Just its pretty annoying and seems to happen for no reason as far as I can tell)
I have came to another problem, Best of 2009 doesn't have an episode number so I just had to put None, I also don't like having Character: None in the infoboxes, I suppose hopefully eventually I will figure out how to get it to just come up when you enter something, like it does for Characters on guest pages. ps well done today
Good idea, I will probably just do that but still try to figure it out at some point. Keep up the good work. I have been faffing with layouts and infoboxes and not actually adding much lately, I am probably going to be on less but I will try to focus on getting infoboxes on episode pages complete by next week (or two).
I was also wondering whether you think I should add Riki Lindhome and Kate Miccuci as Garfunkel & Oates or Riki 'Garfunkel' Lindhome and Kate 'Oates' Micucci etc just I don't want to a say Garfunkel and Oates are characters and Garfunkel still comes up Riki Lindhome when you highlight it. (As always its your choice, sorry if you hate having to make the final decision each time)
Hello again, I was wondering (ps I wonder so much to convince myself I am wonderful) do you mind me mentioning this site in the CBB forums (have you or do you plan on making a topic about it. One of the reasons I brought it up is someone mentioned wiki in the comments of an episode)
I think it's better to separate the phrases Garfunkel & Oates and Riki Lindhome & Kate Micucci, just because they appear on other podcasts separately, so it's nice to see that the only times they've appeared on CBB have been together, performing as G&O.
At this point, go ahead and start mentioning it. I think we're ready. :)
Thanks, I have started the Plugs section page (roughly), I was going to add more info on What's up hot dog as a catchphrase should I put this on another page? I also added a section 'catchphrases' on Scott's page which I think should probably be renamed or be a separate page.
do you think R.I.Possible and CBB weather report should be catchphrases though? (I sort of think we could make them something like but probably not recurring bits)
We could just make things like CBB weather report a separate recurring segment but I am not sure where to draw the line between things like Hollywood days/nights, my wife, It's been, thanks to reggie watts for coming in to play the theme tune etc (I am still pondering so let me know if you have an idea)
Good thinking, I think I will model it on the AD wikia. (just to clarify) They have a page called recurring jokes, then a page for each 'joke' with episodes it appears in and a description of the joke etc and then each episode has a segment recurring themes explaining the ones in that episode. (so thats my plan eventually)
I have started a few different things I need to get through (infoboxes, music and catchphrases on episode pages) I keep getting distracted with little ideas, I added a Foam Corner segment to Anniversary Party!, let me know if you can think of a better way (thanks, don't mean to be a pest)
Hi just to let you know I am going to start leaving a comment on the videos on youtube I link to, partly to let the people who edited them know and partly hoping they will help/spread the word. I was also wondering do you think I should link to youtube or just add the videos to the page (I added one to Bob Ducca feel free to delete it or let me know how to lay it out etc)
Thanks, I will change the links I have added to videos, some of them are in tables though so I will see what it looks like, let me know if you notice anything I am doing wrong or that you prefer a different way or what not.
(Just in case you're wondering why the catchphrase pages are incomplete, I am going back through the episodes trying to find certain parts of the story which I vaguely remember.)
Thanks, I already added a link to that one on the Plugs section, I will add the video to What's up hot dog?. Let me know if there are any others though, I think there is a "my wife" compilation which I could add to that page
The main thing I am taking time doing is finding which episode it was first mentioned and when whats up hot dog Memorial plugs ended, also need to add Weird Al using the catchphrase after Scott retired it etc. Just it takes a while just to confirm one sentence (not that I am complaining just to let you know really)
I noticed in the Earwolf forum someone asked "Hey guys! I need some help remembering an old episode. There was this author who read excerpts from his god awful mystery novel. I don't know who played him." Unfortunately I don't know either, but I left a message saying this site may be helpful, and I have decided to go through the characters to add a description of each one, so for example you could search 'author' and all the characters who are authors will come up.
There is a quotes page on the forums, there is most likely more pages that would be helpful I will let you know if I find anything of note, let me know if there is anything you think I might be missing (ie I didn't think of checking the cbb page on wikipedia for ages)
OMG. I just found something by accident. When you go to edit a page and edit category, it gives you the option of alphabetizing it differently on the category page. So I am TOTALLY going to re-organize the guests by last name. Because I love that shit.
I see what you mean now good Idea. I was going to make all the tours linked i.e. for the last episode of the 2012 tour have next episode: first episode of 2013 tour and vice versa, (if that makes sense) unless you want each tour to be separate.
You're right, I didn't think about that. So each tour is a separate group, and will we put the random ones together as one group or just each random one by itself? (just to be clear I mean for the next and previous episode field on infoboxes)
Well, if there are two nights in the same town (i.e., the Just for Laughs Montreal shows from this summer), those can be continuous. Like Pt. 1 with Tig and then Pt. 2 with Todd Glass. But otherwise, I say we keep them separate.
OK, I will try to get rid of the Next/Previous episode field for the ones which don't link to any other episodes (I probably won't be able to but I will try) just to avoid having too many blank fields. I was thinking about doing the same for the Episode number unless you want to keep it as 'Episode from the road'?
I've decided that I hate the way "Comedy Bang! Bang!" looks at the end of a sentence, with the sentence ending on an exclamation mark. So if you notice those changing, it's just me changing it when I see it, so it says "Comedy Bang! Bang!." No need to go and fix it, I'm just changing it as I go.
Hi I I have added Catchphrase suggested by and plan to add plugs suggested by (which can go in the plugs section) but I was wondering what is your long term plan for Trivia, I was thinking we could make Music a separate section and eventually put CBB comedy report, It's Been.. etc in a reccuring jokes/bits segment.
I can't change the infoboxes without having to go back through , I am in two minds what to do but, I have pretty much stopped adding the episode infoboxes so I will probably just change it and start again
You want to add the Catchphrase Suggested By and Plugs Theme By to the Infobox? Cool. I'll try to remember to fill that in when I do infoboxes.
Re: Trivaia, maybe for now we could just have a generic "recurring bits" page (called "List of Recurring Jokes"), and have the episodes link to that page, where each recurring joke (It's been..., etc.) has a little paragraph. Then if we want to break it down further we can always give each joke a separate page from there.
(Sorry for not being clear) I meant I have added 'catchphrase suggested by' to trivia and I am gonna start adding 'Plugs theme by' to the Plugs Section. (on episode pages)
Also I am going to listen to and fill in an episode page to show you exactly what I mean , I agree we should have a 'List of Recurring Jokes' page, I might make a basic one tonight just to get it started. (I know I have been a bit random lately starting up pages and not finishing them etc, I am going to start focussing on the pages I have started, then go back to finishing the infoboxes).
Hi just to let you know I made Impotent Teamsters Unite, I guess I just wanted to clarify I am using Trivia and Summary just as a place to put things which can be added into the description eventually, the reason this came up was I couldn't think of a place for 'catchphrase suggested by' I kind of think your idea of having them in the infobox may solve that. Also anything you think could be changed or what not let me know. :)
Wow. Wow. Love it! That page looks great! Just a couple of grammar notes -- it should be "what's up, hot dog?" and "thank you, Reggie Watts." I'm anal-retentive about commas. I can always deal with that later; I don't mean to foist my neuroses on someone else to handle. :)
It seriously looks great. The layout is wonderful.
Thanks, yeah that looks even better, good thinking :) (Yeah, you are in charge grammar wise I was never a fan :), although believe it or not I did think I could spell lol)
P.S. I have changed the titles Would You Rather etc to 'Segment Three:Would You Rather?' When we have been making new episodes normally we add Would You Rather as a title obviously this makes sense when the other segments aren't there yet.
I never considered that, I think without the First Segment etc the Table of Contents looks smaller and tidier the only thing is "and thank you Doug for recording" doesn't look right with the quotation marks but I can change the name to Impotent Teamsters Union. (ps I hope you don't think I am 'too' obsessed with minutiae)
Yeah I know what you mean, I guess we could probably use the episode title most of the time, the reason I chose "and thank you Doug for recording" is because in the description you might not realize he thanks everyone over and over because it would look ridiculous if I wrote it out each time he said it so I kind of wanted to point it out.
Hi just to keep you up to date on what I am doing, I can't quite figure out how to make the infoboxes how I want it, I am gonna just leave it and hope someone who understands them properly will sort it out eventually, (they look fine really). Also I have created a page for Bonus, Video, Special episodes etc I just added a sentence to the top of the page feel free to change it (I just did it to get rid of the "please create this page" thing at the top of the page) I was wondering if you had planned on adding a gallery like on the Episodes pages, there is no photos but we could just add the CBB logo.
I have put the special episodes in order of date, just so you can look and see what was the first episode of the Tour, I am not too happy with the way I have done it so if you think of a better way let me know
I was also wondering if the "Wanted Pages" page still exists just I noticed you rearranged the 'top menu bar thing' (which is why I change recurring segments to Recuring Segments) and I can't see it anywhere anymore.
Hi again, I was wondering if you knew how to add the video from this page (if it is possible), I found a different version on youtube so its not a big deal just that one is a bit clearer/better.
Another weird problem on the Clive Dundee page These Times They Are A-Changin'won't link in the infobox, I tried copying and pasting what I have copied and pasted here but for some reason it doesn't work, I noticed the apostrophe's were different if you click on the link so that may be why, but I don't know how to fix it (I tried putting the address in like this These Times They Are A-Changin' but it adds [brackets] in the infobox. (Hope that makes sense)
